Abstract— The background of this research is that several
senior high schools (SMA) in Palembang still use conventional
methods to register new students. During this COVID-19
pandemic, many parents have difficulty registering new students
due to large-scale social restrictions launched by the government
to deal with COVID-19, requiring people to stay at home. This
causes a decrease in the number of prospective students who
register. This study aims to create an interface in the form of a web
and mobile-based new student registration application that can
make it easier for prospective new students to carry out the
registration process without having to come to school. The system
development method used is a spiral model which has six stages,
namely customer communication, namely the researcher
communicates with system users to find out what kind of system
requirements the user needs, planning, risk analysis, engineering,
system testing, construction and launch. The result of this research
is a new student registration application that can be used by
prospective students to register. System testing is carried out using
blackbox testing which shows that the system built has been
running well and as expected.
