Scrutinizing the Homo Sapiens Gene-Gene Interactions in Sex Chromosomes: A Network Model



The sex chromosomes X and Y participate in determining the sex of humans. These chromosomes contain many genes that contribute to a variety of body functions. Homo sapiens (human) genes have been widely studied in the literature. Most of the studies have been conducted on the interactions among genes and their relations to diseases. Therefore, the genes of a chromosome or across chromosomes may have relations to each other. Understanding these relations is important insofar as they contribute to a wider view of diseases. This work tries to scrutinize the homo sapiens gene-gene interactions in the sex chromosomes. More precisely, we generate a network model of the interactions between the genes in the sex chromosomes and the genes of other chromosomes. The nodes of the generated network represent the genes in chromosomes X and Y. An edge between two genes is generated if there exists an interaction between both. The generated model demonstrates interesting facts about the relations among genes. Finally, it can be of interest for biologists to look at such models for a more understanding of the interactions among genes and their relations to diseases.
